As an intern for cultural festival Spéléographies, I directed the communication media of the festival's 2022 edition. I typeset the program and the press kit.
The creative brief for this editorial workshop was to create, in pairs, a publication around a randomly attributed word.
My work partner and I were given the word "window".
I chose Florence + the Machine's 3rd album How Big How Blue How Beautiful, because musically it is my favourite from this artist, but I was always frustrated by how lackluster the album art was. Despite usually having a very illustrative, art-nouveau style in most of her album arts, this album fell short in my opinion.
The original brief for this screenprinting project was "Visible/Invisible". This vast subject led my group to think of other contrasts such as infinitely big and small, which led to brainstorming about the creation of universe, auras and energy, and other spiritual themes.
We were particularly inspired by the work of Evan M. Cohen with his bi-coloured illustrations for the shape of our project.
The poster starts with two lines of illustration in a comic strip style to introduce the concept. The elements are arranged in a figure-8, to reference infinity and perpetual cycles. The narration ends with a blossoming lotus flower floating into more lotus flowers - representing our universe amidst an infinity of more universes.
